My Ice Header ... an ordinary moment of inspiration
What is up with the wintery header??? I know I know, I live in the tropics we don't have propper winters. This winter has been much more wintery than last years winter of 2 weeks. My jumpers have got a bit of use this year, all of them are cotton jumpers my wool jumpers are buried in a suitecase dorment dreaming of france where they got worn on a regular basis. So I feel my wintery pic fits with our actual winter this year instead of the bypass winters we normally get. but really its a snapshot I had to take, last month I got a frozen meal out of the fridge and thats what was on the lid, a delicate little ice world I just had to photograph it. I went into photoshop and vamped up the colour and contrast and the photo looks as magic.
It originally looked like this .... I knew it would work with a tweek
Green Bags
I won some fabric last month from the crafty minx blog, and this is what I made with it some eco or green bags. I will stop using plastic bags, and with some funky girly bags I will have more incentive to remember my eco bags when I go shopping. One bag I sold to a lovely friend, one bag is going to a sister for Christmas (shhhh don’t tell her) and the stripy one with the braided handles has been to the shops and library with me this week and I love it love it love it. I extra love the pockets. I embroidered ‘walk’ on one side and ‘don’t walk’ on the other. The stripy fabric reminded me of the big zebra crossings I used to walk on every day in kings cross when I went to uni, so that bag is definitely mine. I think you will see a lot more shopping bags as I detest the ordinary supermarket green bags I have.
ps. my husband, tortoise, looked at top photo and said "wow my gate really looks good in that photo" never mind my sewing its all about his fence!
oliver and s - lazy days skirt
Look what I whipped up today, easy, except my boys made a big mess pulling all the wrapping paper out of a draw and spreading a bag of chalk over the lounge room floor, and Eli started to eat the chalk. When I took the chalk off him he crawled outside and sat in the light rain, protesting his lack of tasty chalk.
I adore this fast skirt and I make lots of versions of it, this is one thats going in my pressie stash. And I have enough fabric to make another, I really like this fabric if i had a girl she'd so be wearing one of these. I also used the scrap and a bit of felt to make a matching headband. Hope the 2 little girls that end up with them enjoy some twirly skirt dancing.
below is link to the oliver and s skirt pattern.

funny face cards
I let my big boy (3 and a half) Flynn make some thank you cards today, we had a few odds and ends and together we made some funny happy faces. Perfect for a wet day like today. We used some cardboard shapes we already had cut, some googely eyes, pom poms for ears, feathers for hair and a bit of glitter, pva glue and I let flynn draw on the smiles ( that was done first). I love the "train crossing smile" x face the best, really who has a train crossing smile I wonder?
love sassy

Toys I have made for little people
When I was pregnant with my second little boy Eli, I satisfied the nesting urge with sewing. The Coolest thing I made was his mobile. I took a really basic fish shape and embellished them in every way I could think of. He loved looking at them hanging over his cot when he was tiny and now that he’s 1 he hits them and points at them chatting in bub language.
